This year’s awards and scholarships for self identifying students of the Black diaspora who are enrolled at Durham District School Board schools are as follows:

DBEN Mark Joel Trailblazer Student Success Award: Please click here to apply for this award. This $500 award is granted to a DDSB student graduating from grade 12 who self identifies as Black, demonstrates leadership amongst their peers, and who is pursuing Education as a post secondary pathway.

DBEN Power in Me Student Success Award: Please click here to apply for this award. This $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a DDSB Grade 12 student pursuing post-secondary education. The selection committee will seek students who demonstrate quality of character and leadership. Preference will be given to a candidate who is first generation to attend post-secondary in their family.

DBEN Queen Rising Student Success Award: Please click here to apply for this award. This $350 award is granted to a DDSB self identified Black female student in grade 12 who is pursuing post secondary education, and who has demonstrated involvement in community work and/or social justice initiatives.

DBEN ETFO Student Success Award: Please click here to apply for this award. This $1000 award is granted to a DDSB grade 12 graduating student who self identifies as Black and who is pursuing a post secondary pathway in Teaching.

DBEN Alexander (Amo) Black Excellence Student Success Award: Please click here to apply for this award. This $500 award is granted to a graduating grade 12 DDSB student who self identifies as Black, demonstrates excellence in sport, and/or academics, and/or the trades, as well as demonstrates an ambition and plan to pursue their passion in sport, academics, and/or trades.

DBEN Women In STEM Student Success Award: Please click here to apply for this award. This $1000 award is granted to a self identified DDSB Black female student graduating from grade 12 and pursuing post secondary studies in STEM.

DBEN Syfox Stepping Up Student Success Award: Please click here to apply for this award. This $750 award is granted to a self identified DDSB Black male student in grade 12 proceeding to university to study Business or Education.

DBEN Kiburi Pride Student Success Award: Please click here to apply for this award. This $1000 award is granted in support of Queer Youth and/or student ally in DDSB who self identifies as Black in grade 12 who is pursuing post secondary education.

DBEN Professor G. A. I Nwogu Memorial Student Success Award: Please click here to apply for this award. This $500 award is granted to a DDSB grade 12 graduating student who self identifies as Black and who is pursuing a STEM post secondary pathway.
